Peter and Paul Cathedral is the main temple of the Russian Empire. The Cathedral in the name of the Supreme Apostles Peter and Paul is the official tomb of the Russian emperors. The cathedral was built in the times of Peter the Great according to completely new principles for Russia at that time. Its architectural design was influenced by Western traditions. It was once the tallest building in Russia.
