Wikipedia:Im September des Jahres 1862 beschlossen ein Dutzend einflussreiche Herren der Kölner Wirtschaft das Statut einer Aktien-Gesellschaf zur Anlage eines Botanischen Zier- und Lustgartens. Mit dieser Idee, einen Ersatz für den drei Jahre zuvor in der Innenstadt geschlossenen alten Botanischen Garten zu schaffen, entsprachen sie auch dem Verlangen großer Teile der Bevölkerung, die sich eine derartige Einrichtung wünschte
