East Courtyard of Preah Khan
Cambodia

Taken inside the third enclosure between the Hall of Dancers and the east entrance to the main buildings of the massive Preah Khan, the view encompasses some of the well-preserved sculptures on the hallway inculding some fine examples of the celestial Apsaras. Opposite the hallway once thrusting its way up is the remains of a giant silk-cotton tree that has been cut down as it had become to unstable to its supporting structures.

Built by the omnipresent Jayavarman VII in the 12th century, Preah Khan is more of a buddhist university than a temple. It also houses some of the most unique and intriguing buildings in the whole of Angkor like the Greek-style two-storey library a stone's throw away from here.
