Hambach Castle - the Freedom - Palatine Germany
Germany

The place was alreday used in late roman time as a fortification. In the 11th century the so called Castel of the Chestnut (Kastanienburg, Chestnut trees are growing arround the castle and almost everywhere in the palatine forest). With the time of the Peasants' War 1525 the Castle was damaged. It was destroyed 1688 in the War of the Palatinian Succession by French Soldiers.

In Mai 1832 30.000 citizens from all ranks and also from Poland and France gathered for four days at the castle for the "Hambacher Fest - Hambach Festival". This was the first democratic movement and the begining of german revolutions in the later decades. This gathering is the symbol of the german revolution an the demand for democracy and freedom. Also the european vision was part of the protest and the festival was as well the beginning of the idea of one unified europe with rights and freedom for all citizens.

Today a "Hambacher Fest 2.0 - Hambach Festival 2.0" with a global vision for sure would be no mistake, especially in front of the existing global problems and the ones comming up in future.

In the palatine we call the Hambach Castle: "die Freiheit = the Freedom".

More About Germany

Germany? Before the beginning there was Ginnungagap, an empty space of nothingness, filled with pure creative power. (Sort of like the inside of my head.)And it ends with Ragnarok, the twilight of the Gods. In between is much fighting, betrayal and romance. Just as a good Godly story should be.Heroes have their own graveyard called Valhalla. Unfortunately we cannot show you a panorama of it at this time, nor of the lovely Valkyries who are its escort service.Hail Odin, wandering God wielding wisdom and wand! Hail Freya, hail Tyr, hail Thor!Odin made the many lakes and the fish in them. In his traverses across the lands he caused there to be the Mulheim Bridge in Cologne, as did he make the Mercury fountain, Mercury being of his nature. But it is to the mighty Thor that the Hammering Man gives service.Between the time of the Nordic old ones and that of modern Frankfort there may have been a T.Rex or two on the scene. At least some mastodons for sure came through for lunch, then fell into tar pits to become fossils for us to find. And there we must leave you, O my most pure and holy children.Text by Steve Smith.
