Fort Santa Cruz a été érigé entre 1577 et 1604 dans la ville d'Oran par les Espagnols. Ce fort a été un lieu de combats sanglants entre Ottomans et Maures vassaux contre les espagnols et tribus arabes alliés à ces derniers . Ce fort se situe sur la crête du massif de l'Aidour. Sa situation en faisait un point stratégique.
