I guess I’m what one would call an Industry Veteran having worked in the field of computers and digital imaging for the past 30 years.
In that time I’ve been involved in the evolution and acceptance of Computer Imaging, from both a hardware and software perspective, since joining the UK digital pioneer Quantel in 1984.
During my time with Quantel I was based mainly in the United States but would often return to the UK to work with the developers on what would become the industry standard of it’s time, the Paintbox.
In 1987 I left Quantel and started my own company in Hollywood, called Electric Paint. The company was the first to use digital technology to produce award winning movie posters for films such as Silence of the Lambs, JFK and Born on the Fourth of July.
I left Electric Paint in 1992, to work as a consultant, and found myself in Japan developing an in-house digital studio for Tokyo advertising agency Leo Burnett-Kyodo. I also participated in the design and development of the imaging software Live Picture and worked with a number of software companies in the United States including Macromedia and Fractal Software Painter.
Returning to Australia in 1995, I established one of the countries first internet agencies, Red Square Productions. Red Square went on to develop long lasting relationships with local companies such Qantas, Telstra, YHA, Panasonic Australia and international companies the oneworld Alliance of Airlines (American Airlines, British Airways, Qantas, Cathay Pacific etc) and Maersk Line Shipping.
In 2009 I merged the business, out of Red Square, into a local agency, webqem, allowing him to pursue his interest in all things digital.
I'm familiar with a range of software applications including Photoshop, Fireworks, InDesign and dynamic content platforms like Adobe Scene7 and recently participated in the beta of Adobe Digital Publishing Studio.
I'm currently developing and consulting on a number of projects for my clients looking to publish on tablets using vendor solutions such as those delivered by Oomph.
