Nanshan Temple, located 40 kilometers west of Sanya is the most famous temple in Hainan. The temple has great views of the mountains and hills to its east and west and the Nanhai Sea to the south. Nanshan, the mountain to the temple’s south is known to represent longevity according to Chinese mythology.
