Murrays Hill in Pierces Creek State Forest. Elevation at this point: 686m according to GPS.
This is a dis-used, rocky track that climbs steeply up the northern slope of Murrays Hill until it suddenly turns into a well maintained vehicle track some way up the hill. I had to zigzag my way up slowly in some sections of the un-maintained portion of this track - its steepness combined with lots of loose rocks calls for due care.
The view down below of Pierces Creek Forest covered in pine trees improves every year as the pine trees grow taller. Most of the network of forest tracks, once very visible after the original pines were destroyed by fire in 2003, is now well covered up in a sea of green.
