El terremoto ocurrido en Chile central el 27 de Febrero de 2010 con una intensidad de Rigter 8.8 dejó como resultado una ciudad parcialmente paralizada. El colapso de una sección de la autopista "Vespucio Norte" en el paso sobre nivel "Lo Echevers" deja como saldo varios vehículos totalmente destruido y una via urbana absolutamente inutilizada, afortunadamente las personas solo resultaros heridas. El terremoto es el segundo evento más destructivo que ha sufrido el país en su historia despues del terremoto de 1960 en Valdivia que ostenta el título como el más poderoso a nivel mundial.
Las costas de la region del Bio Bio resultó absolutamente devastada primero por el terromoto y luego por el sunami que arrasó pueblos entreros, los puertos, barcos, trenes y todo fué arrastrado tierra adentro y al mar.

Following liberation from Portugal and Spain, South America took off into its own development, capitalizing on the rich deposits of oil, gold, copper, silver and tango musicians.
