Stenhouse Bay Jetty
Yorke Peninsula

In 1913 a gypsum mine opened in Inneston and for nearly 40 years Stenhouse Bay Jetty was used to load gypsum from huge deposits at Inneston and Stenhouse Bay onto sailing ships. It was the mining lease that preserved a large area of Yorke Peninsula from clearing and now forms the Innes National Park. Stenhouse Bay was once a bustling town with over 500 residents but has now shrunk to a few houses with a pub and general store at the entrance of the National Park.
