The Piazza Erbe has a long history. Here was the forum (market place) at Roman times and now it is still full of shops. The square is surrounded by several historic buildings like the Palazzo Maffei (1668), Casa dei Mercanti and Case dei Mazzanti (14th century) with colourful frescoes. UNESCO World Heritage
