It is the first light constructed in Chile by the urgent necessity to indicate to the navigators the entrance to port. This light was inaugurated the 18 of September of 1837, in the called place End Angels, where at the moment the Naval school “Arthur Prat” is placed. In documents of they describe it to the time as it follows: “The tower is of wood, guinea fowl of target, its figure is a quadrangular pyramid; its base is squaring of 23 feet, the height of 60 Castilian feet until the foot of the light, the shirt has 11 feet in each front; the lantern is of 12 feet of stop and 6 of diameter, of cylindrical form and iron ceiling; the light of 10 natural color and is quite clear to distinguish itself remote of leguas in clear time”…
