A narrowboat makes it's way up the Leeds-Liverpool canal near Wigan. There's nothing quick about narrowboats. Perhaps the forced slow-down in pace is something we all need once in a while, a reminder of times gone by.

A welcome shade from the sun in the pine woodlands in Formby. Apparently, these were only planted 60-110 years ago, to stabilize the sand dunes. Alas, no red squirrels seen on today's outing.
