The trail to Laguna Churup starts from a little hamlet called Pitec and is well-trodden. It takes about an hour from this point to reach the lake passing ravine, giant boulders on the way.

This photo doesn't do justice to the majestic view of  Nevado Hauntsan (6,395m) as the day became overcast by the time I reached the bank of the deep blue Laguna Rajucolta (4,250m) late in the afternoon.
