The Aquamarine Colour of Laguna de los Tres in Spring

Here I am again standing on the scree looking at the beautiful Laguna de los Tres. The colour of sping is very much in evidence everywhere, from the verdant green beech forest to the aquamarine lakes.

On the road to El Chaltén we made a quick stop to catch this breathtaking view during sunset.One can see Lago Viedma, Glaciar Viedma, Cerro Torre and of course Mr. Fitz Roy himself.

After arriving at the famous viewpoint between Laguna Sucia and Laguna de los Tres, everybody is banned by the impressive Fitzroy (3.406m) and his neighbours.

Below the 3150m high Cerro Torre lies the oval-shaped Laguna Torre. Rich in rock powder of a particular size the colour of the lake acquires a more subdued muddy green hue.

The twin lakes of Laguna Hija and Laguna Madre are two medium-sized lakes lying by the foot of El chaltén (Mt Fitzroy). Here the view is taken at the beginning of the trail that skirts along the shores of the two lakes.

Captain Cooks Cottage

  Captain Cook never actually set foot where the city of Melbourne now stands. He did live in this cottage in England but it was shipped out to Australia as a gift to the Australian people.  

Conservatory

  The Conservatory was built in 1929 in a Spanish Mission style. During the year many different floral exhibitions can be seen. Admission is FREE to any visitor that visits the Fitzroy Gardens in Melbourne.
