Each year at the beginning of August, the town of Port Colborne, Ontario holds a Marine Heritage Festival called Canal Days. It features art and demonstrations, and finishes with a fireworks display on the last day.

A narrowboat makes it's way up the Leeds-Liverpool canal near Wigan. There's nothing quick about narrowboats. Perhaps the forced slow-down in pace is something we all need once in a while, a reminder of times gone by.

The Nyhavn area of Copenhagen used to be a 'Sailor's delight', but is now a bustling centre with plenty of restaurants and bars alongside the canal. I reccomend the mussels.
