A narrowboat makes it's way up the Leeds-Liverpool canal near Wigan. There's nothing quick about narrowboats. Perhaps the forced slow-down in pace is something we all need once in a while, a reminder of times gone by.

The Nyhavn area of Copenhagen used to be a 'Sailor's delight', but is now a bustling centre with plenty of restaurants and bars alongside the canal. I reccomend the mussels.

Ruokovirta canal is built in 1878 to help traffic thru from Pieni Ruokovesi to Suuri Ruokovesi. The canal is no longer in use, because of the nearby open canal Hyvärinvirta which was finished in the 1960s.
