The terminus region of McCall Glacier under fog (16 June 08 08:44)

Published over 5 years ago by Matt Nolan

The terminus of McCall Glacier is often in fog or a bit wet.  It's probably a good place for cool glacier air to mix with warmer, wetter air from the tundra and condense.

The drilling is completed and we've lowered down our thermistor string, all the way to the bottom -- 200 meters!  Now its time to break everything down and ship it home.

Repeat photo of McCall Glacier (23May08 11:56)

This photo location was used in 1958 as a base station for surveying ice motion of the glacier.  Since we use GPS now, we just use this spot for taking photos document glacier change.
