Alpe Scellina superiore is on the trail from Or Vergugn to Corte Bue. Here for the first time the trail emerges from the forest into an open space and there's a good view all round.

This mulattiera goes from Or Vergugn to Ponte Velina. It is mostly in a good state, only here and there the path was washed away where it crosses streams, but the missing bits aren't difficult.

The 'Ompio' road from Bieno ends here, at Ruspesso. The last bit to the Rifugio Fantoli at Alpe Ompio is along this mulattiera, on foot. This is a good point to start excursions into the lower Val Grande area.

After a tricky descent from Bocchetta di Terza, where I found quite a bit of snow on the northern side, I've finally reached the snowline at about 1500m.

This image was taken at pretty much the same spot as another one I took in summer. Instead of lush greenery, most trees are still bare of leaves. Only some birches and Linden trees are budding.

After a winter with little snow, I'm ascending to Bocchetta di Terza. Here I've emerged from the forest at Alpe Terza. Monte Zeda to the south-east is still capped with white.
