The name of this place is Acik Saray, which means "open palace". The function of this cavecomplex is not clear. It is presumed, that it was built in the 11th century and served travellers as caravanserai.

The Hasan Dag (Mount Hasan) is with 3268m the 2nd highest mountain of Cappadocia. In ancient times there were several important villages. Today you can find a skiing center at the mountain.
