紅樹林保護區鄰近紅樹林捷運站，是北臺灣著名的生態公園，亦為候鳥遷移休息地，是賞鳥最佳勝地。 園內有大片水筆仔林及特有水生動物─招潮蟹與彈塗魚，形成一個特殊的生態系。除了原有的觀賞平臺、觀景高臺以及自動導覽系統外，並在保留區邊緣，依據生態工法設置了約40公尺長的「生態小徑」解說設施，成為一條融入環境教育理念的生態解說輔助設施，可以協助民眾能近距離的欣賞及觀察紅樹林生態之美
