This image was taken near Colma di Vercio, which is a pass connecting Mergozzo and Corte Bue. Nearby are the marble quarries which yield the marble for the Milan Dome; some of the works can be seen on the image.

Bocchetta di Terza itself is quite stony, but nearby is this lovely meadow on the ridge. It's a nice spot to have a break after the ascent and to enjoy the view in both directions.

Passo di Basagrana can be reached from Trontano. It's over 2000 m high, so one of the higher access routes to the central Val Grande area. It passes near Monte Trontano.

Bocchetta di Terza is the pass from Val Pogallo to upper Valle Cannobina. Like all passes crossing into the central area of Val Grande National Park, it's around 1800 m high.

The Albrun pass is situated on the Swiss-Italian border and only reachable on foor. It connects Binn Valley and Lago di Dévero. The crossing isn't difficult, and the varied terrain makes for a beatiful walk.

Pizzo Mottac, or just Mottac, isn't one of the largest Mountains in Val Grande National Park, but it is very central, and so many of the passes leading into the core zone of the park can be seen from here.

from Lago di Campsecco, there's a difficult path up to here. The last bit is very steep. There are chains, and without them I'm sure I wouldn't have done it. The other side towards Alpe Camasco is more gentle.

Monte Moro Pass is located on the Swiss-Italian border, near Monte Rosa. On this day, though, clouds are pushing in from the italian side, and my hopes of getting a good close-up view of Monte Rosa were frustrated.
