沿「馬鞍」而行,有些路段較為狹窄,而兩旁像是懸崖,但只要小心行走,應不算危險及難行。緩緩下行,再上行一段後,到達馬鞍山的頂峰及標柱。回望走過的牛押山及其相連的吊手岩,甚有層巒起伏的氣派。在山頂處,除可俯瞰企嶺下海及西貢海的全景外,另一邊更能看到沙田及吐露港一帶,景色甚是壯觀。
