This panorama was taken under "Nagusa-no-Taki" (Nagusa Waterfall).The waterfall is 72 m (236 ft.) high and 3 m (10 ft.) wide.You can see the water gushing from the top of the waterfall only after heavy rains.

백두산 천지에 올라가는 동굴에 가까운 계단을 오르다 보면 폭포 옆에 퐁포를 가까이서 관망할 수 있는 좁은 전망대를 만들어 놓았다. 남보기엔 폭포를 보기위한 것 같지만 나는 잠시 힘든 다리를 쉬게하려는 목적이 더 간절했다.

백두산 천지에 가는 길은 장백폭포 옆으로 엄청난 애추의 급사면을 따라서 가게된다. 그렇기 때문에 옜날에는 떨어지는 돌에 많은 사람이 다쳤다고 한다. 여기서 부터는 안전을 위하여 반 동굴에 가가운 지붕 덮힌 계단을 오르게 된다.

이도백하 쪽에서 백두산 천지를 가기 위해서는 반드시 이 계단을 올라가야 한다. 처음엔 그저 올라가려니 하지만 가면 갈 수록 힘든 것이 이만저만 아니다. 더더군다나 촬영장비를 어깨에 메고 올라가다보면장비를 버려버리고 싶은 마음이 간절하다. 안 갈수는 없고.

백두산 천지를 가다보면 장백폭포에 이르기 전에 장백폭포에서 떨어진 천지의 물이 흘러가는 시원하고 깨끗한 하천을 만나게 된다. 참으로 깨끗한 맑은 물이 흐른다. 도중에 노란 온천수가 보이기도 한다.

백두산 천지를 가기위해 셔틀버스를 타고 최종적으로 내리는 곳이다. 여기서 부터는 걸어가야 한다. 처음엔 완만한 경사길을 맘놓고 올라가지만 잠시후엔 박박 기어 올라가는 엄청난 계단이 기다린다.

이도백하 쪽에서 천지를 올라가기 위해서는 이 장백폭포 옆을 지나 안전을 위해 만든 인공 동굴 계단을 박박 기어서 올라가야 한다. 정말 힘든 계단이다. 하지만 올라가서 손에 적셔보는 천지의 물은 그 힘듬을 모두 씻어준다. 백두산 정상은 짚의 힘을 이용해 노인들도 가능하지만 천지는 인간의 다리 힘에만 의지해 올라가야 한다.

The view from the top of the Amphiteature is simply breathtaking. The sheer cliff face is over 1200 meters high! The Amphitheatre is 5km wide.The valley below is the Royal Natal National Park.
