The Ypapanti cathedral is a replacement for the older cathedral which was destroyed by the earthquake of 1956. In front of it you a beautiful view over the caldera.

The village of Megalochori is still a typical greek village. While you can meet tourists there (me for example :-) ...) it is offside the usual steram of visitors.

In Exo Gonia you can find one of few churches that are not painted white and have a blue dome. The church Agios Charalambos has domes covered with red tiles.
