1300 Years Old Pine in Pirin
Bulgaria

"Baikushevata Mura" is an important species of type "Pinus heldreichii". It has been named after the arboriculturist Kostadin Baikushev who in 1897 discovered and described it. It exists in the Pirin mountain in Bulgaria at 1930 meters above the sea level. It is found near the "Banderitsa" hut on the way from Bansko town to "Vihren" hut. The age of the pine tree is estimated as more than 1300 years which is the oldest conifer in the country and one of the oldest tree in the world. Approximate sizes : height 26 meters, diameter 2.48 meters and 7.80 meters round.
