The pile consists of residues from the oil shale industry in the area. Today, the pile a popular tourist destination partly because of Art exhibition on High and ornithologists. Certain areas of pile are still so hot that it smokes from the ground. Because some parts of the pile are still burning, there are areas of risk where the formation of cavities under the ground at risk of collapsing. [2]. The ski resort on the mound with two runs driven by Kumla Ski Association.
