Capitol Reef Overlook, Utah
Utah

A side trail from the Cohab Canyon trail leads to a point overlooking Capitol Reef National Park, Utah. Orchards in the Fremont River valley were first planted by Mormon settlers in the 1880's. Still maintained by the National Park Service, they are now the sites of campgrounds. The Capitol Reef  was so named for the hundred mile impassable barrier or "reef" and the white sandstone dome that resembles the U. S. Capitol on it.
