Cowslips are a springtime flower found on ancient meadowland. Its name comes from cowpat (what cows leave on the ground). It is very rare to find such a mass in one place. These were located in a water meadow near the village of Oakridge.
The flowers make a delicate wine, rumored to be a cure for insomnia. An ointment made from the flowers was claimed to remove spots and wrinkles.
