Deggendorf ist eine große Kreisstadt im niederbayerischen Landkreis Deggendorf. Die Hochschulstadt wird aufgrund ihrer Lage im Donautal, in der Nähe der Mündung der Isar, am Fuße der Berge des bayerischen Waldes auch als „Tor zum Bayerischen Wald“ bezeichnet. In Deggendorf wird 2014 die Bayerische Landesgartenschau stattfinden.
