On this little plaza a statue of Juan Sebastian Elcano was re-errected 1961 after the original statue was destroyed 1935 in a bombing. The original statue was from 1801. The statue ierrected in commemoration of the Spanish Basque explorer who completed the first circumnavigation of the world in 1522. (Information taken from various articles on Wikipedia)
