According to the legend the pageboy 'Karl from Rise' rode in 1212 from the queens deathbed in Ribe to Skanderborg Castle to fetch King Valdemar Sejr.

The statue is made of bronze by the skulptor Sven Lindthardt and you find it opposit to Hotel Skanderborghus.
