Once upon a time, you were in your early twenties, it was 1993, Prague was a "wild" place just a few steps short of chaos and anarchy. There was a bar called Chapeau Rouge with good music and nice folks. This place has gradually slimed over, and we are now left with only the Meat Market part... Still, as this bar is in every guide book, you're bound to at least have someone to talk to. One can hope that the daily tribe of Stags is not nearby. The guys outside selling low-quality (or phony) hashish are as permanent a fixture as the cobblestones they are standing on. One can easily imagine that there have been shady foreigners on this corner for centuries, hawking illicit potions for altered states.
The bar may be "old" but the club downstairs is new. If you're in for the long haul, it might just worth be checking out.
