Mosque of Samarinda Islamic Center is the second largest mosque in South East Asia after Istiqlal Mosque in Jakarta. The design of the mosque towers was inspired from Masjid Nabawi at Madinah, and the dome design was inspired from Haghia Sophia Mosque at Istanbul, Turkey. The vast area of the mosqe is capable to accomodate approximately 35.000 people.
