费城是美国最老、最具历史意义的城市之一,在美国城市排名第五,仅次于纽约、洛杉矶、芝加哥和休斯顿,居民共约六百二十万人,费城是德拉瓦河谷都会区的中心城市,位于宾夕法尼亚州(Pennsylvania)东南部,市区东起德拉瓦河,向西延伸到斯库基尔河以西,面积334平方公里。它在美国史上有非常重要的地位。同名电影《费城》则是一部反应艾滋病,同性恋,人权,自尊的经典影片。1790-1800年,在华盛顿建市前曾是美国的首都。费城是美国最具历史意义的城市,有非常重要的地位。

  从市政厅向西北延伸的本杰明--弗兰克林大街是一条宽阔的林荫大道,途经费城艺术博物馆、罗丹博物馆、本杰明?弗兰克林纪念馆和菲斯天文馆等重要文化设施,通往费尔蒙特公园。该公园沿斯库尔基尔河延伸,占地1600公顷,是世界上最大的城市公园,内有1876年美国独立百年博览会会址。城东多历史遗址。1730年建立的独立广场,现为国家独立公园的一部分,内独立宫是1776年7月4日宣布独立宣言的地方,珍藏着著名的自由钟。附近的卡本特厅是第一次大陆会议的会址。建于1727年的基督教堂是华盛顿、弗兰克林及其他独立战争时期的领袖们的礼拜堂,附近有弗兰克林墓。城西是大学区,有宾夕法尼亚大学(Penn)、卓克赛尔(Drexel)、天普大学(Temple)、圣约瑟夫学院;克尔提斯音乐学院和宾夕法尼亚美术研究院等著名高等学府。费城管弦乐团在国际上享有盛名。市区东部中国城有全美最大最早的中国城之一。

The United States is one of the most diverse countries on earth, jam packed full of amazing sights from St. Patrick's cathedral in New York to Mount Hollywood California.The Northeast region is where it all started. Thirteen British colonies fought the American Revolution from here and won their independence in the first successful colonial rebellion in history. Take a look at these rolling hills carpeted with foliage along the Hudson river here, north of New York City.The American south is known for its polite people and slow pace of life. Probably they move slowly because it's so hot. Southerners tend not to trust people from "up north" because they talk too fast. Here's a cemetery in Georgia where you can find graves of soldiers from the Civil War.The West Coast is sort of like another country that exists to make the east coast jealous. California is full of nothing but grizzly old miners digging for gold, a few gangster rappers, and then actors. That is to say, the West Coast functions as the imagination of the US, like a weird little brother who teases everybody then gets famous for making freaky art.The central part of the country is flat farmland all the way over to the Rocky Mountains. Up in the northwest corner you can find creative people in places like Portland and Seattle, along with awesome snowboarding and good beer. Text by Steve Smith.
