橋頭糖廠建於1901年，原名台灣製糖株式會社橋仔頭第一工廠，光復後改名臺糖公司高雄廠，是台灣第一間新式機械的製糖工廠，有著仿巴洛克式的熱帶殖民樣式建築及等身觀音銅像等十九處古蹟，是台灣早期製糖的重要據點工廠之一。糖廠於1999年停止製糖，廠區內保留許多和風宿舍、庭園景觀、紅磚水塔及倉庫等日治時期建築景觀，於2002年公告為市定古蹟，目前轉型發展休閒觀光產業。
