On the 17th of March 2020 a strict Corona regulation of the state of Baden-Württemberg came into effect. The government admonished the population: "If possible, stay at home, avoid large crowds, withdraw, observe physical distance.". The border to France was blocked and one could cross the border only on very few customs points. And only persons with special permits could cross the border.
