『橫看成嶺，側看成峰』是大尖山的最佳寫照，它是一個堅硬的礫岩『屏風』在鬆軟的泥岩層中，受到雨水差異侵蝕而顯露的地形景觀。

在它的腳下就是著名的墾丁牧場，黃昏時或晨光中與牛隻一同倘徉在青天綠野，好不適意，大尖山是墾丁國家公園的『陸標』，在墾丁、在鵝鑾鼻、在龍磐、在貓鼻頭都可以遠眺它多變的身影。
