隱身於七星里南勢湖的呂家古厝，已有百餘年的歷史，是高雄現存規模最大、形制最完整的傳統民居聚落，也是墾民時期土埆厝建築的代表作之一。呂氏古厝的建築屬於二進多護龍合院，主要建材為土埆、砌磚，形制上維持著前高後低的傳統尊卑觀念，造型雖無華麗的雕工彩飾，卻是早年先民移墾山區惡地形的代表與見證。
