Kütahya Germiyan Sokağı, Tarihi Konaklar

Kentsel dokuyu oluşturan en önemli yapı birimi evlerdir. Kütahya, konut mimarisi bakımından Anadolu'nun ahşap bölgesi içinde kalmaktadır. Balıkesir-Uşak-Antalya çizgisinde tanımlanan Batı Anadolu Türk Evleri grubunda yer alır. Kütahya Evleri; cihannümaları, ahşap payandalı çıkmaları, oda düzeni, çok katlılığı, iki veya dört eğimli çatıları, ahşap çatkı arası dolgu veya bağdadi yapım sistemleri, 18. yüzyıla kadar açık dış, daha sonra orta iç sofalı yapılarıyla tipik Türk evinin tüm özelliklerini gösterir.On yedinci yüzyıldan kalmış en eski ev Macar bağımsızlık savaşı önderi Lajos Kossuth'un konuk edilmiş olduğu Hamdi Aydın Evidir. Sultanbağı mahallesinde Defterdar Konağı, Kurşunlu mahallesinde Hacı İsmail Efendi Evi, Gazi Kemal mahallesinde Bandımzade Evi, Pirler mahallesinde Germiyan Konağı, gibi kentin eski çekirdek mahallelerinde pek çok eski Kütahya evleri yaşamaktadır. Sivil Mimarlık örnekleri içinde açık sofalılar (17 - 18 yy.) Kütahya'nın en karakteristik evleridir.

Modern civilization began right here in the Tigris-Euphrates river valley. In fact, the Renaissance in Europe was partly inspired by stories brought back from the middle east by travelers along the trade route.Strategic location, religious history and the world's largest supply of crude oil have kept the Middle East at the center of world activity for centuries.
