Jenny & Andrew: 2nd Wedding Anniversary Portrait

Every year I take a new portrait for my sister-in-law for her wedding anniversary.

This year I decided to do it as a panorama. It was my 2nd attempt at a "lit" panorama - this time done in daylight. I'm very happy with the results and interested now in taking on some more projects in this style.

The base pano was shot with 6 frames around with a 15mm Sigam on a Canon 5D with 2 zenith frames and 1 nadir frame. Shot at F8 and 1/200th.

These frames were processed with a false HDR look in LR that involves maxing out Recovery, Fill Light, Clarity and Vibrance then toning down the Saturation to get the look you want. (plus some other stuff you just need to play with once you get that far) I then process the 4 lit shots with the same basics (but as they were at F11 to cut down ambient light with full power hit with 3 hotshoe strobes through a white shoot through umbrella) but needed to play around a bit with Saturation to get them to match the frames without the people as the light changed between the time I shot the empty pano and I got the people in the scene (twice as they changed outfits as well). I then lay in the 4 people frames on top of the main pano and line it up to the main frames.

I output the empty pano as one file - the 4 frame people pano as the 2nd file - then hand mask and layer them in PS.

There are no kangaroos in Austria.

We're talking about Australia, the world's smallest continent. That being cleared up, let's dive right in!

Australia is a sovereign state under the Commonwealth of Nations, which is in turn overseen by Queen Elizabeth the Second, by the Grace of God, Queen of Australia and Her other Realms and Territories, Head of the Commonwealth.

The continent was first sighted and charted by the Dutch in 1606. Captain James Cook of Britain came along in the next century to claim it for Britain and name it "New South Wales." Shortly thereafter it was declared to be a penal colony full of nothing but criminals and convicts, giving it the crap reputation you may have heard at your last cocktail party.

This rumor ignores 40,000 years of pre-European human history, especially the Aboriginal concept of Dreamtime, an interesting explanation of physical and spiritual reality.

The two biggest cities in Australia are Sydney and Melbourne. Sydney is more for business, Melbourne for arts. But that's painting in very broad strokes. Take a whirl around the panoramas to see for yourself!
