林園工業區是全國規模最大的石化中間原料產地，為1970年代臺灣推動十大建設之一環，奠定工業發展之基礎，更是臺灣經濟動脈之一。園區內一座座工廠林立，煙囪高聳上天，大型儲油槽佇立，呈現出高雄工業之壯闊豪氣，傍晚工業區燈光照明彷彿將黑色夜空當作畫布。白天是工業景色，晚上則是夜幕景緻，兩者皆為林園之光。
