The monument to the historian and writer Nikolay Mihajlovichu Karamzin is opened in manor Ostafevo count Sergey Dmitrievichem Sheremetev in 1911 to the 100 anniversary of a writing by Karamzin «Notes about ancient and new Russia».
The author of the project academician Nikolay Zaharovich Panov. The author of idea of installation and the concept of a monument prince Pavel Petrovich Vjazemsky.
On a pedestal - the composition cast in bronze from seven volumes of "Russian State History», written by Karamzin in Ostafeve, the roll symbolizing eighth volume begun here, and an inkwell with a feather. On an obverse side - a relief portrait of the historian. On a back side - lines from N.I.Krivtsovu's N.M.Karamzina's letter. All bronze elements of a monument are cast in Guido Nelli's Petersburg workshop.
Monument restoration is carried out by firm "VIOLe-M".

Moscow has been the capital of Russia for almost its entire history. The exception is during the period of the Russian Empire, which lasted from 1721 until the Russian Revolution 1917. For these two centuries the capital was St. Petersburg. The Russian Empire was the second largest contiguous Empire in world memory; only the Mongol Empire had been greater.

After the breakup of the Soviet Union in 1991, Russia became a federal republic of 83 states.
