十八羅漢山位於高雄市六龜區荖濃溪旁，為堅厚的礫石經長久侵蝕而形成陡立峻峭的山峰，因山形奇特有如十八羅漢而得名，從遠處遙望又似跳躍的火焰，又稱「火炎山」。另因礫石層透水性良好，經過長期以來雨水的沖刷，使得下切侵蝕不斷地進行，形成峰峰獨立的山頭，是南台灣獨一無二的險惡地形。
