新開部落罹難者紀念公園於民國100年7月建成，以緬懷因莫拉克風災失去生命的部落居民。公園占地約一公頃，由舊新發國小新開分校原址興建而成，是一座兼具追思、生態、防災功能的複合型公園。公園內設有追思廣場、教育廊道，融合在地人文特色與生態保育意涵，希望記取莫拉克風災的慘痛教訓，讓悲劇不會再重演。
