台北市立美术馆于1983年12月24日正式开馆。位于中山北路三段，圆山中山桥前，成立于民国72年，该馆地上三层、地下三层，内外设计别致，造型宏伟，堪称为具现代感十足的灰白色建筑物，占地约6000余坪，共计有26个室内展览室、12个雕塑中庭，是国内第一座以展览现代艺术为主的美术馆。
