民國89年6月臺北縣政府正式公告為縣定古蹟，又因殼牌公司本身認為對文史不具專業，遂將此百年古蹟捐給在地文化社團即淡水文化基金會，同年12月31日正式移交。嘉士洋行倉庫的指定可以說為淡水百多年來的風華下一個註記。
