馬槽位於陽金公路一帶，因溪谷狀似馬槽而得名。馬槽的別稱又名馬槽尾或尾槽，馬槽頭則指陽明山夢幻湖一帶。

馬槽溫泉為陽明山地熱區之一，為火山性溫泉，泉水呈酸性反應，PH值2~4，最高溫度達99°C，源頭的水質呈灰色半透明，帶有硫磺味，為硫酸物氯化物泉之一，不能飲用。
