Castro is a Chilean commune of the X Region of Los Lagos and the Province of Chiloé, Chiloé Archipelago. Integra Precinct No. 58 and belongs to the 17 th Senatorial District. It is located 1,214 km from Santiago and is the third oldest city in Chile with continued existence, being founded on February 12, 1567, by Marshal Martin Ruiz de Gamboa. The capital of the commune is its namesake city.
