Gatehouse, Harlech Castle, Gwynedd
Wales

The imposing Harlech Castle was built by the English monarch King Edward I to assert his authority over the Welsh. Standing atop a high rocky outcrop, which then backed directly on to the Irish Sea, Harlech was a one of Edward's most formidable so-called 'iron ring' of fortifications.
